Wow, it's been an incredibly long time since I last wrote on here, and interestingly enough I've had all the time in the world in which to write. I guess it's just one of those things that you know is always there but you can never muster up the desire to actually keep up-to-date.
But for starters, I am now married! and have been for 2 and a half months :) The wedding was perfect; the days before it were really rushed, and a little bit frustrating due to the fact that there were so many people around but none of them seemed to be doing anything really helpful. I was a little worried that it would rain the day before the wedding. My dream rehearsal dinner had always been to have a big bbq in my backyard and it would've sucked if it had rained. And in fact, the days leading up to the wedding were all somewhat wet and drizzly. But the rain stopped in time for dinner so my dream came true after all! The only downside was that so many people were there. I don't know why all the relatives had to be invited, rehearsals are usually for those involved in the wedding, maybe 25 people max, but NO, my rehearsal dinner consisted of some 50 - 60 people! But it was ok regardless.
I actually slept well the night before my wedding. Us girls didn't get to bed til around 1am but I ended up sleeping til 8:30 which really shocked me. It was the most relaxing morning ever. The hairdresser (Steve's aunt Elaine) came to the house around 8:45 and the girls got their hair done while I finished packing. And then I sang along to the cd the whole time my hair was being done and everyone thought I was insane. But it was fun and I wasn't nervous at all. We got dressed and over to the church, and the ceremony started exactly on time! I didn't cry at all either, the only time I teared up was before the ceremony when Lissa burst into tears, that kinda sucked. But the ceremony itself was just as I wanted it. Nice and short without any frills. 20 minutes after it started I was a married woman! And then off to pictures which took forever :( Mmm, my cheeks hurt so so much. The reception was good, not much of a program, again exactly what I wanted, and amazing food. There was a lot of time to go around and talk to people and that was nice because we got to talk to people who came a long ways that we might not have been able to see otherwise.
And then the honeymoon! Banff was.....GREAT! :)
And then back to home where we spent a couple days packing presents into the car before heading back to Winnipeg. And now we've been in our new apartment for a couple of months and it's still not fully unpacked! There's still boxes in the diningroom and I don't know where to put them, and I can never seem to stay on top of the cleaning; there's always junk lying about! But really it's just been chaotic. I had to spend a couple of days with Jana cleaning out our old apartment and boy am I ever glad to be finally rid of that place! I shall say nothing more about it here but I'm thrilled that I'll never set foot in there again. And Steve and I just had to take a trip out to Ontario for our friends Johanna and Nolan's wedding (I was a bridesmaid). That wedding was very different from ours. It didn't start til 6pm, and Johanna ended up being quite stressed for most of the day. Plus, I absolutely died for 7 hours because my dress was too tight, stupid seamstress! But we had fun for the most part, although we were happy to get home.
And that pretty much brings me up to now. I'm really really excited cuz we're going home in a couple of weeks. Jana's getting married which should be a good time, but the greatest part is that I get to see mum and dad and Lissa again! I talk to Lissa on the phone every Wednesday, and have done so all summer, but I miss seeing her. We're going out the day before the wedding, but we're hoping to stay for a day and a half afterwards so it'll be a nice little trip. Especially cuz we won't be able to go home for Thanksgiving for the second year in a row! :( But yeah, I'm counting down the days til we go home, and then I'll be able to eat my wedding cake because I never had any besides the little piece that Steve fed to me when we first cut it!
