BENEFITS OF FALL

What a perfect fall day! Crisp but sunny and the leaves, oh the leaves! One of the best things about fall is the way leaves smell. That slightly rotten smell. It's absolutely wonderful. But the best part of the leaves is the way they crunch. Such a small thing, but it has the capability of completely changing a mood. I was having such a hard day a little while ago and it was partly due to the fact that there was a bad frost the night before which caused a lot of the leaves to fall down and to ultimately blow into the building and I found it so frustrating to keep having to clean them up over and over. But the frost also caused a lot of the leaves to fall along the path I take home, and I had such a blast crunching my way through them! I slowed my walk to a snail's pace and crunch crunched all the way down the path. And seeing as how the leaves are still there, I'm still able to crunch through them. Although the leaves are getting really crushed now. Most of them are in small bits. Too bad there's not quite enough to gather up into a huge pile to jump in. Which is what I did yesterday! Outside of the bookstore. I was sent to go sweep and bag them up but the parking lot was so big that I wasn't even able to sweep the whole area and you should have seen how huge that pile of leaves was. I just couldn't let an opportunity like that pass me by so I put my broom down and threw myself on top of them. It was so much fun!! Made my day. Funny how such a small thing can completely transform one's outlook, eh?
